1,400L IBC Bund

Snosko’s IBC Bund is a plug and play system which can be configured to safely bund, store, decant and meter Intermediate Bulk Containers (also known as IBCs, bulky boxes, bins, totes, or cubes).

Its modular design allows it to be configured either as a simple IBC Bund, or fully self-contained chemical dosing unit. It has been specifically designed to meet the dimensional and bund capacity requirements specified by AS3780-2008: The storage and handling of corrosive substances.

Product features:

This product is covered by the certified Australian Complete Patent Application Number 2021102517 owned by Snosko. It can be configured to:

  • Bund standard IBC units
  • Bund larger heavy-duty IBCs (also known as Nylex IBCs or bulkiboxes)
  • Bund tanks and multiple smaller chemical packages
  • Be fully enclosed with an inclined sloping door and roof, ensuring rain cannot enter the bund while preventing chemical from escaping in the case of a leak
  • Store a day tank which acts as a liquid reservoir, eliminating downtime during IBC changeout
  • Include a dosing cabinet (which drains back into the bund), which can be used to house dosing pumps and chemical injection equipment
  • Include a range of mechanical level indicators, electrical level indicators, or leak detection sensors for critical applications.

Operational specifications:

  • 1,400L Bund capacity
  • 200L day/reservoir tank capacity
  • Rated to Specific Gravity 1.8SG
  • 400kg Bund weight (with tank and roof)
  • Can store an IBC 1000mm wide x 1200mm long x 1200 high
  • Manufactured as per DVS guidelines (German code for plastics welding)

Material specifications:

  • All wetted components to be thermoplastic
  • All steel components to be stainless steel grade 316
  • All composite components to be vinyl ester GFRP
  • All seals to be EPDM or FKM (Viton)

Chemical applications:

Snosko’s IBC Bunds are commonly used to store:

  • Sodium hypochlorite (bleach)
  • Hydrochloric acid
  • Sodium hydroxide (caustic)
  • Sulfuric acid
  • Oxygen scavengers (such as sodium metabisulphite)
  • Citric acid
  • Coagulants (such as poly-aluminium chloride)
  • Fluorosilicic acid

Relevant standards for installation:

  • AS1170 – Structural design actions
  • AS3780 – The storage and handling of corrosive substances
  • AS1319 – Safety signs for the occupational environment

Case Study

IBC Unloading and Metering for an Australian Chemical Processing Facility

Snosko was asked to supply a range of IBC handling systems to a steelworks located in Australia. The age of the site meant that equipment needed to be designed bespoke to allow for site access and loading.
