OVERVIEW

Snosko was asked to assist in retrofitting a sodium hypochlorite delivery tank into a brownfield water treatment plant in Australia.

The existing tank was a moulded plastic tank. Chemicals had attacked the tank shell and its nozzles, causing a leak.

The tank was positioned in a concrete bund. The leak from the tank attacked and damaged the bund.

SOLUTION

Snosko representatives visited site and identified that a Snosko 1,500L Holding Tank could
fit into the existing footprint.

The Snosko Holding Tank was be configured with a thermoplastic dual wall which ensured that in the case of a leak the bund would not be subject to chemical attack.

It was also fitted with level indicators and a fill nozzle, allowing the tank to be made operational very quickly.

RESULTS

The new tank ensured that the bund was dimensionally compliant to AS3780-2008: The storage and handling of corrosive substances.

As the Snösko Holding Tank is fabricated, and not moulded, the structural rigidity and thick-walled construction minimized the effect of chemical attack on the tank shell and its nozzles.

The thermoplastic dual wall, level indicators and tanker filling pipe meant that all that was required to get the tank up and running was a piping connection.
